Greetings from Spokane Public Schools! August 2008

With the recent resignation of Christie Querna, Spokane Public Schools is now looking for interested community members to fill the vacant school board position.

The board will be looking for someone who understands the importance of stewardship for the community’s children and is eager to be a part of a board whose responsibilities are assuring that all students attain the skills necessary for success in today’s world.

Applicants should submit a letter describing their personal background, a current resume and a statement explaining why they want to serve on the board. The application should be submitted to School Board President Garret Daggett, c/o Superintendent’s Office, 200 N. Bernard Street, Spokane, WA 99201.

Applications from qualified individuals who live in the school district, are at least 18 years of age and are registered voters will be accepted until Thursday, September 11, 2008, at 5 p.m.

More information on the application process is available by calling 354-7364, and more information about the board and its duties is available at www.spokaneschools.org/Board/SchoolBoard.stm.

It is the board’s goal to select a candidate for appointment to the board by October 8, 2008.

The candidate selected will need to run for this elected position in the November 2009 general election, should he or she desire to continue service as a school board member.
