Partner Programs

Leadership Spokane was founded in 1982 by a group of business and civic leaders who worked to transform our city with the world’s first environmental exposition, Expo ’74. These leaders understood that the health of our community depends on committed, ongoing leadership making vigorous, well-informed and responsible decisions.

As a part of Greater Spokane, Inc and a member of the national Community Leadership Association, Leadership Spokane joins with hundreds of organizations at local, state and national levels to encourage and embrace diverse community leadership efforts. Leadership Spokane is grateful to these founding individuals and organizations:

  • Jim Calderhead, Washington Mutual Savings Bank
  • Bill Cowles, The Spokesman-Review
  • Jim Cowles, Inland Empire Paper
  • D. Michael Jones, Old National Bank
  • Jim Kirschbaum and Dale Stedman, AAA
  • Bruce McPhaden, Kaiser
  • Paul Redmond, Washington Water Power (now Avista)
  • George Reitemeir, Spokane Chamber
  • Judge George Shields
  • Phil Stanton and Tom Perko, Washington Trust Bank

Leadership Spokane is proud to partner with the following community organizations and initiatives:
